Oroboros Workshops
- Oroboros Workshops are organized as international oxygraph courses (IOC) on high-resolution respirometry since 1991. These range from four full-day training courses to conference lunch presentations of the Oroboros.

- Electrolyte and membrane application.
Formats
- Oroboros Workshops have become world-famous. They are offered on a regular basis in Austria and in other countries in cooperation with O2k-Network Labs.
Oroboros Workshop: HRR and the Oroboros FluoRespirometer
- The Oroboros Workshop on high-resolution respirometry provides a detailed introduction to the Oroboros, overview presentations on [high-resolution respirometry]] (HRR), and applications in mitochondrial physiology.
- The Oroboros Workshop program is complemented by lectures on mitochondrial physiology (general topics; Oroboros Procedures). Short presentations of 'Oroboros perspectives' provide participants with the opportunity to present and discuss their work, including projects in progress, methodological details and conceptual aspects.
Oroboros Workshop: Advanced Oroboros FluoRespirometry
- The Advanced Oroboros FluoRespirometry Workshop is focused on fluorometry combined with respirometry. High-resolution respirometry (HRR) is presented in overview lectures and hands-on sessions. Discussions cover protocols for the measurement of hydrogen peroxide production (Amplex red), mt-membrane potential (Safranin), ATP production (Magnesium green), and Ca2+ (Calcium green). Further Oroboros MultiSensor applications are covered in these specific Oroboros Workshops (e.g. IOC95).
- Following our successful IOC tradition, participants are invited to submit abstracts for short presentations of 'Oroboros perspectives'.
- Information on Oroboros FluoRespirometry, with resolution of hydrogenperoxide in the nanomolar range: Oroboros FluoRespirometer.
Oroboros Workshop: TPP/ ISE
- The Oroboros Workshop TPP/ISE is customized for participants interested in MultiSensor applications, particularly ion selective electrodes (ISE) for measurement of mitochondrial membrane potential (TPP+, TPMP+) and Ca2+. It covers an introduction to basic concepts on mitochondrial membrane potential: proton pumps, ion gradients, electrochemical potential (proton motive force) and the measurement of mt-membrane potential in biological samples (homogenate, permeabilized fibres). Furthermore, data analysis (from TPP+ to mt-membrane potential) constitutes a major topic.
- According to the interest of participants, other Oroboros MultiSensor applications can be discussed and demonstrated:
- Measurement of Ca2+, calibration and calculation of free Ca2+ in buffered solutions (TPP ISE-Module)
- Acidification rate (pH)
- Oroboros FluoRespirometer
- Nitric Oxide (NO) Module
- According to the interest of participants, other Oroboros MultiSensor applications can be discussed and demonstrated:

Abstracts
- Abstracts are welcome for short presentations, providing participants for an opportunity to present and discuss their work, including projects in progress, methodological details and conceptual aspects.
- Abstracts should be submitted to [email protected]
Instructions for IOC-Abstracts
- Abstracts are welcome for short presentations (Oroboros perspectives), providing participants an opportunity to present and discuss their work, including projects in progress or in the planning state, methodological details and conceptual aspects. Presentation duration: 10 min presentation + 5 min questions
- Length of text: Max. 500 words including up to three references, all authors with full titles, their affiliations, and a figure legend. The abstract does not allow excess length of text. Additional information (further references etc.) may be added into the free text which will not be included should there be a printed version.
- You may edit your abstract on the website any time. Please send us your abstract two weeks prior to the Oroboros Workshop. Should you have last-minute ideas or changes on your abstract please get in touch with the tutors of the Oroboros Workshop.
- Kindly submit your abstract by emailing it to us in a wordfile. We will then add your abstract to the Bioblast wiki. Please let us know if you do not wish your abstract to be open access.
- Figures: A figure is welcome. Please send us a figure (jpg or png).
