Description
Sodium azide is an inhibitor of Complex IV/cytochrome c oxidase (CIV, COX, CcO).
Abbreviation: Azd
Reference: MiPNet03.02
Application in HRR
- Azd: Azide (Sodium azide; NaN3), Sigma-Aldrich: S2002, store at RT, CAS: 26628-22-8, M = 65.01 g·mol-1
- Hazard statements: H300, H310, H330, H373, H410; fatal if swallowed, fatal in contact with skin, fatal if inhaled, may cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure (brain), very toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects
- Azd: Azide (Sodium azide; NaN3), Sigma-Aldrich: S2002, store at RT, CAS: 26628-22-8, M = 65.01 g·mol-1
- 2021-03: Preparation instructions were updated to take the volume of the solute into account (see Volume of the solute). The concentrations prepared following the former instructions (see Discussion section) are sufficiently high for SUIT protocol titrations.
- Preparation of 4 M storage and stock solution (1 mL, dissolved in H2O) for 2-mL O2k-chamber:
- Weigh 260 mg of sodium azide.
- Dissolve in 900 µL H20.
- Divide into 0.5 mL portions.
- Store at -20 °C.
- »O2k manual titrations MiPNet09.12 O2k-Titrations
- Titration volume (2-mL O2k-chamber): ≥50 µL using a 100 µL Hamilton syringe.
- Final concentration: ≥100 mM.
- Preparation of 2 M stock solution (dissolved in H2O) for 0.5-mL O2k-chamber:
- Take 400 µL of the 4 M stock solution.
- Add 400 µL H2O.
- »O2k manual titrations MiPNet09.12 O2k-Titrations
- Titration volume (0.5-mL O2k-chamber): ≥25 µL using a 100 µL Hamilton syringe.
- Final concentration: ≥100 mM.
